Yesterday - The Computer Version

Here's a joke for ya'll... enjoy Do you know the song "Yesterday"? Then sing along to this computer version. Yesterday, All those backups seemed a waste of pay. Now my database has gone away. Oh I believe in yesterday. Suddenly, There's not half the files there used to be, And there's a milestone hanging over me. The system crashed so suddenly. I pushed something wrong. What it was I could not say. Now all my data's gone and I long for yesterday-ay-ay-ay. Yesterday, The need for back-ups seemed so far away. I knew my data was all here to stay, Now I believe in yesterday. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - oh, and i would just like to congratulate and thank all of you for visiting this site... i've officially had 500 hits to this site! i'll try to figure out if it works to add a guestbook, so i know who visits this site.. but i appreciate your coming to read this blog.. may you continue to be blessed by it! blessings from the Father up above...

Back in KL and the issue of piracy

It's been a long time Anyway, I'm back in KL now and going off for committee retreat later today. For those in Malaysia, I'm wondering whether you're taking up the 40 day prayer and fasting challenge in conjunction with Independence Day on the 31st of August. It's a good challenge and I wholly encourage you to take it up and pray for God to move throughout the nation. Nothing much has happened lately, except for the fact that I've been playing football two days in a row. Then of course, I won't be playing any this weekend so it makes up for the football I'll miss..hehe.. Here's something God showed me when I was Kuching.. Psalms 63:5 "My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods" and I asked God what He meant by this.. "Piracy".. I couldn't see the connection with being satisfied as with the richest of foods until I looked at my collection of music in my Windows Media Player. 2.2 GBs of pirated music. And I realized then on that I had gotten into a craze, a music frenzy that meant that I would go onto wireless broadband to download more and more music. Was I being satisfied? True, the music may be Gospel music and edifying, but I saw a powerful greed in me that always asked for more. Was I being satisfied? Absolutely not. Yet David says that by seeking and searching and thirsting for God, he will become satisfied. I learnt from there a few things: firstly, seeking God should be of utmost priority. If you were to be satisfied in your heart and soul, seek God. Second, get rid of the music. This was harder to do (and I'm sure anyone with pirated music would find hard to do as well) but I had to do it. It took me a bit of time, battling my own arguments and realizing that they won't stand knowing that God has got the greater wisdom. Eventually, I deleted the music. A waste of good music? Never. All I've done is to ensure that this greed for music is overcome in my life, including all the side effects that come out of this as well. The people who deserve to be rewarded for the effort in recording the music (the artistes, producers, song writers, musicians, etc.) are rightly rewarded. And the second most important command in the Bible states this well, to "love your neighbour as yourself". That argument comes down to whether you're willing to see piracy happen if you were in the shoes of these people in the music industry. Very compelling counterargument, I must say. In the end, its your own God-intervened conviction that would lead you to knowing what's right and what's not, just as it was He who convicted me. And just an ending note, music cannot heal or soothe your soul, neither can it give you the power to move any mountain. God can, though.. Enjoy music, friends..

Rainforest World Music Festival

hey all, check this out.. the RWMF 2003 at Sarawak Cultural Village.. ended last Sunday.. this is malaysia's premier traditional music and culture event that gathers the top in its class all around the world.. i only attended the three-day event on the last day, sunday.. and i was very impressed.. i've taken photos with some of the performers, including a Cuban, a Russian and an Englishman... and you get music from the likes of sultry Latin music, fusion music with traditional instruments set to world jazz, comical antics and street-performing acts, loud drums, high-pitched wind instruments that only uses one hole but can play so many notes (plus its meant to lullaby horses and cows in Russia), throat-singing (and it really sounds powerful) and a host of other musical skills that you don't find on Billboard countdowns that's been the hippest thing so far lately.. you guys should try to make it when it is held again next year.. it can be very inspirational stay cool..

speaker's block... been working on what to speak on during my youth meeting.. i think i have a litle something already.. hehe.. what does God want me to say?? its been my priority not so much to share on experience, but rather share on a topic or something that will impact the listener but use my experiences to illustrate what i mean..well, working on it.. the past week has been fine.. been more relaxed and not moving about much.. got more time to spend with God as well, so that was great.. i'm staying with another friend now, just returned from the UK and finished his a levels.. so we've got a lot to talk about, but who wants to talk about studies nowadays?? hehe..well.. u never know.. but its been great, and i'll be going to the music fest on sunday.. hope to experience some cool music stuff there.. apparently one big avenue to express music in traditional instruments, and mind you, it sure isn't boring! anyway, looking forward to it.. well, that's all for now.. back to work on the sharing and some stuff i'll be doing to advance the cause of bible knowledge studies for spm!! press on..

taking my sweeeeeeet time... i've been having a pretty good time back home in kuching.. been going out to visit friends, brought my friends to go and buy souvenirs, and also to church and some football with my youth fellowship earlier today (sunday), went swimming at a river and visiting the orang utans... i have also met so many faces i've not seen in a super long time.. people like brian, sarah, joanna (since primary school!), jo-ann and also the youth leaders of my church, SIB Kuching... and soon to see, deb, back from singapore.. its been a rocking time... and i hope it will still be.. got loads of other things to do.. including visiting and hopefully ministering in my sec. school ISCF, sharing in my youth fellowship, going to the rainforest world music festival (hey, its superb!), and also spending some time with God and preparing my next steps from there on.. like where to study, as well as the different things that God would want me to do in terms of my spiritual life, my college CF, and in the ministries i'm hoping to get involved in.. for those on holiday, i hope you enjoy it and use your free time wisely.. spend it with God, especially.. take your time to build relationships with friends, serve in a ministry in church or in CF, study (you'd kill me for that..haha), play football and just make sure you rest at night knowing that you've made your day useful... for those having exams soon (especially the adpians..), i wish all of you God's blessings and strive to do your best.. will be praying for all of you.. for those who are in the "none of the above" category, may you continue to put God first in your life and live each day knowing that you live to glorify God.. let every step that you take, every breath that you breathe and every move you make be actions that magnify the greatness of our King.. till then, do keep in touch.. email me or drop a line (for those in kl, its a local call to my h/p. for those in kuching, its expensive.. i'll call you all!) with you all, may the peace of God be...
